Mission Statement

Our Mission is to offer exceptional complementary education that will help everyone to be effective in the real world.

The chess-board is the world, the pieces are the phenomena of the universe, the rules of the game are what we call the laws of Nature. The player on the other side is hidden from us.Thomas Henry Huxley

About Us

Chess has long been recognized throughout the world as a builder of strong intellects, but only recently has the United States begun to recognize chess's ability to improve the cognitive abilities, rational thinking and reasoning of even the least promising children.

Chess brings out concealed abilities that have not been reached by traditional educational means. It promotes logical thinking, instills a sense of self confidence, and self-worth, and improves communication and pattern recognition skills.

It teaches the values of hard work, concentration, objectivity, and, commitment.

General Information

The Plano Chess Club (PCC) is located at the Ed Gurukul learning institute ,and provides an interactive environment for all those wanting to learn chess in the Plano area.

Not only does the club provide lessons for those who are new to chess, but the PCC also offers an environment that reaches out to those at an advanced or novice level.

The USCF (United States Chess Foundation) has approved the Plano Chess Club to hold tournaments, and has rated the PCC as an acclaimed institution for chess players. The PCC tournaments are held to foster skills and competition.

For every chess game played each student has the opportunity to have their game analyzed by a Chess Master.

Every Saturday there is a weekly tournament, this gives each student a chance to practice techniques that are learned through the game analysis or during classes.
